金曲奖2010

我想金曲奖应该是我每年最期待的颁奖典礼吧. 对电影的热诚远远低过音乐, 呵呵.

我的感想如下:

1. Red carpet 实在很失败.

我爱小S和哈林哥!

怎么会没做好可能会下雨的准备工作啊… 搞的原本漂亮帅气的歌手门如此狼狈… B.I. 啊…

2. Vanness 的造型是“参考” Jason 唐志中吗?

Alisa,  那是你家的床单吗? 还是窗帘?
*cough*
(Disney princess singing and all the animals rush out and sew her a beautiful dress)

3. 动力火车没得奖我不爽!!!!

4. Eason 的 guyliner 很杀! 我喜欢!

虽然他头发有少少像 “宫城”

Okay 咯… 是很像!

还有… 陈Eason 没得奖, 而被没出席的陶David.. 还真有点跌破眼镜.

5. Lala

Curiousity kills your wallet

P1110271

I received my credit card statement and was shocked to see that, for BND50.00 I withdraw (out of curiosity + lazy to walk to another bank’s ATM + my HSBC ATM card got makan-ed because I’d not used it for more than a year)… I was charged BND19.00!!!!

*faint*

That’s like 38% of the amount I withdraw can!
Really man… *cough*loanshark!*cough*

So, today I took the opportunity to ask the bank staff after I collected my new ATM card and also opened a fix d. just to maintain my credit card. She told me that, for advance cash (withdrawing from your credit card), the charges is

BND15.00 + BND2.50 + 2.5% of the amount withdraw…
That’s how I got the BND19.00 charged.

*regret regret regret regret regret thump chest thump chest thump chest regret regret regret regret thump chest thump chest thump chest*

P/s: Another tip, if you withdraw cash from your ATM card in oversea, you’ll be charged BND4.. or was it BND4.50 I can’t remember.

A change of food preferences

When I recalled the kind of kid I was when it comes to food, I see myself as this fussy, annoying and cranky little princess (in terms of character and attitude, not appearance) picking out all the veggies on my plate and refusing to eat if any fried shallots or garlic found.

As you can see, I was a spoilt child.

I hated fried rice the most because of the mixed vegetables in it. The only time I touched the plate of kangkung / sawi was scooping the sauce out when the rice was too dry. I would cried and threw tantrums just because there’s a single stalk veggie in my fried kueh tiaw. Super hak-yan-zhang lor.

Then, as I grew older.. especially after 25, I found myself enjoying eating veggies more. Though, bitter gourd is still something I cannot swallow (unless thinly sliced, fried with telur masin). I don’t frown anymore when I see capsicums in the pizza, I can eat onion raw, even garlic(!) when it’s with soya sauce. Mmmm…. bakuteh!

Still, I’m not a fan of green leafy vegetables. I’m okay with it, but.. not liking it, especially the stalks. Well, kangkung, kailan and xiao-bai-cai okay lah. But, I love all non-green leafy veggies! Brinjal and broccoli, yums!

I guess, it’s because I’m now more aware of health issues or… aging actually contributes to change of preference in food?

Hmm…

Duan Wu Jie 2010

I guess never in my life I pay so much attention and hold that much anticipation on a single-day Chinese festival (meaning, CNY excluded). It’s a very “Belait” thing I guess because when I first stayed in BSB (year 2001) and asked my then-new friends which beach normally Chinese go during Duan-Wu-Jie, they all gave me a puzzled look and thought I was crazy.

Tsk tsk… *shake head*

My Duan-Wu-Jie in 2006, 2007, 2008, nothing for 2009 because we went to the beach for awhile and it rained. See, super give face okay! Even mid-autumn also kalah 9 streets.

01
Our usual spot – “6 legs”

See how people just left their belongings unattended? I guess it just shows everyone how secure we are when we’re in Seria.

Note: That’s the area where everyone use to get to the beach.

02

04
The crowd, seemed lesser compared to the previous years.

I’m seriously thinking if we should change our tradition and raid the KB beach next year.

03
The dumplings washed up to the shore.

05
My selipar decided to die on me… which made my friends accusing me as a “Drama magnet”.

09
Just one day, I will bring my own kids to the beach and grow him/her up like a Belaitian! (So he/she won’t “wow” when eating a $1.80 fried kueh tiaw and french toast cheese. *cough cough* sakai-ness)

14
I lost count how many years we went to the beach together on Duan-wu-jie. Danna and Max on the far right were just mere coincidence! Felt super good bumping into old friends. (which… was one of my reasons why I love going to the beach on that day. Despite complaining that there’s nothing to kpo)

16

19
piau-liang-daooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

God just sayang us so much don’t you think. It was drizzling earlier on, the sky filled with thick clouds and we all worried if it’s going to rain (like last year) and guess what, the weather was super good and not only that, God gave us almost full rainbow(s) and it only started drizzling when everyone was about to pack and go home.

20

Sorry, I don’t have thick fat DSLR equipped with super long kiasu lens to capture breathe-taking scenes like this. So, just bear with this kinda shots.

By the way, the numbers of DSLRs (with long long lenses) I spotted this year top the number of kids got thrown to the sea lor. Why ah?

22
The best buds.

   24
Sunset…

p/s : School is starting tomorrow and I guess I’ll be more hardworking updating the blog from now on. Probably because I need something to distract me from my work. Hehehhee.

Finger nails shortened and nail polish removed. Next, lesson plan~

Snippets of my week 23, 2010

Pardon me for the lack of updates (almost a week! Eeseh!). Basically, my past week was so happening (running errands, catching up with school work, cleaning up the house and my buddy’s wedding!) that I barely had time to sit down and blog properly.

So here are just some photos that were taken last week.

#1 Went to make my new passport (cough, new identity) and it was like my best passport-making experience!

The whole process (including taking the number ticket and waiting) took me less than 20 minutes! Talk about efficiency! Probably because I went there at the right time, 10.30am that is. Based on my past experience in making any new documents (IC / Passport / Driving license), the best time to go to these departments are probably pass 10am.

You know, people always flocked in at like 7.50am or sharp 8.00am because they want to finish it early. But, since everyone has the very same thought, so… congested lor. Nobody makes IC / Passport at 10.30am because “it’s late already”. Hence, for me.. that’s the best time to go. Less waiting time, smiles everywhere because it’s near to lunch time and they’ll work faster too because of that.

Make sense?

47
#2 – Okay, this was not taken last week but just an intro.

We dined in Capers and look at the row of plates on the table. That’s like our 4th round and everyone was already super full. Yet the waitress told us there’s still 8 plates in the kitchen (Thank God she made an effort to ask if we still want it or not, of course we said cancel!). We thought maybe the orders were duplicated hence the non-stop flowing of food.

Scary experience what the banana!

 15
#3 – The bikini tops (idea contributed by yours truly but artwork done by Giun) for the groom and his brothers to wear.

We stick the colour papers behind the disposable bowls because we only realised the night before that the poster color will wear off in contact with water. Knowing the fact that all men sweat buckets, we decided to stick papers beneath it so that their shirts won’t have two round print right on their chests.

16
#4 – My personal favorite. I’m naming it - “The African Beauty”. HAHHAHAHAHHA

28462_10150211772615226_702580225_13090363_6595851_n
#5 – The newly weds and the “sisters”

P1110102
#6 – Took the opportunity to take picture (pasal all dressed up) with Bobby because Sue need to pay the member fee and I need to collect my mom’s water filter from Bobby.

09
#7 – Buddy-buddy

06 07
#8 - Boo

23
#9 – Gorgeous bride with the Princess Diana wave

34 33
#10 – My tall tall love. We looked cute together kan kan kan?

37
#11 – Table 39 with the newly weds

 45
#12 – Love this picture to bits!

a
#13 – Celebrated Yuen’s advance birthday at Charcoal’s.

P1110199
#14 – Clean up my shoe shelf today!

Er.. only the top 2 shelves belong to me. Meaning, I don’t have much shoes.

P1110197 P1110198
#15 – The new look of the bathroom, with the $200 tiles (both bathroom and toilet)

I think it’s a Chinese thing to have the barrel to “save water for no rainy days”.

Half half

I was ecstatic when I know the squat toilet is going to be replaced by a sitting one. And new wall tiles too! But then.. I guess I “happy too early”.

P1110034

New toilet bowl, new wall tiles, new paint.

This is how my toilet looks like now…
Yeap, that’s it… that’s all.
The floor is going to be like that.
钟无艳。

Half all tiles, half new cement.
How “modern contemporary”.

P1110036

Same goes to the bathroom.

The contractor convenient told us that “It’s not on the job list” when asked why is the floor like that. Seriously…. what the heck is this? Cannot tolerate okay.

So, I asked if I buy some floor tiles from them, and get the workers fix it, how much will be it? (Mind you, I asked for the cheapest tile)

$300.00!!! (Labour + tiles + cement)

*faint*

Niameh…

Haih, better consult other contractor or wait for the inspection and tell them. Kanasai to the max.

House hacking

And you all thought that I’ll blog more during the holidays but ah-aaa, instead… it’ll be less.

Today marks day 3 of renovation.

June 2nd – New tiles for the living room and kitchen sink counter.

June 3rd – New tiles for the room and stove counter.

June 4th – 4 new doors and wall tiles for the bathroom.

P1110016

P1110013 P1110015P1110012

NO! I’m not getting married! We’ve been living in this house so long and no renovation done before. So, you can imagine how buruk it was lah… My friends who’d been in my house would know what’s the other reason why it’s buruk-er. Even when the contractor came and checked, she was shocked to see that the house is so…. 80s, so different from the other bareks.

Will be having pale green for the bedroom! Wheee! Both our (my mom and I) choice! The color green is thought to evoke stress relief can~

So for the past 2 days, it was hectic for us. Moving all our stuffs out here and there to make room for the renovation and we’re all sleeping on the floor (with tilams) till the walls are all painted, sweep the floor multiple times and… I can’t even find my art block and color pencils for now. In fact, apart from my daily toner, moisturizer, sun block, laptop and charger… I can’t find any of my other stuffs.

For those who gets jealous because of the school holiday, there… you have me waking up at 7am like you all. Feel better now?

Having a puppet show this coming Sunday. I’m going to be the evil crocodile. Someone commented that because I’m always around with kids that’s why I can act cute voice.

dot dot dot

I’m a crocodile! Where got cute? I have a low manly voice for the role leh…

image

Painted these with Tobi for almost 2 hours. Don’t complain… I suck at it I know.

Bah, that’s it..

Bye

Pink Desserts 2010

Finally after the Go Pink event in April, the recipe book is ready!

 pink

You can get a copy of the $10 book at the following places:

1. Swensens @ The Mall, Second Floor

2. Shop@Sarah, Seri Qlap Mall, First Floor

3. Frangipani Bistro and Cafe, Sengkurong, same row as Baiduri Bank

4. Brunei Breast Cancer Support Group Office, No.23 , 1st Floor Bgn Hj Hassan Abdullah, Kg Menglait, Gadong BE 3978- near Le Apple in Menglait.

I went to the PINKNIK event last Sunday just to get copies of the book, where else but the ever happening Casa Experanza, the place full of positive energy.

Actually, we’re celebrating Suk Chin’s Hen Night (which, I don’t know if I should blog about it) in the villa the night before and the party continued till 6pm the next day. Hence, after a satisfying meaty lunch at Golden Leaf and Girly treat at Zen Spa, I dragged, forced and begged the girls to go to the PINKNIK with me, because.. I wasn’t the driver and had no car with me that time.

I explained to them what the fuss was about and why it meant so much for me and after knowing that it was for charity, they’re up for it too.

64 63
With Mau, and that’s her humble little stall selling Dulce de Leche, which… I still can’t pronounce! I think I’ll just call it the Mexican caramel.

65

I didn’t get them because.. I’m really not into sweet stuff. Sorry Mau. Oh ya, should have bought a tub for Bobby the Lim. Told you all he’s the woman in our relationship, sweet-tooth, sensitive and patient.

66
Paintings for sale from Frangipani Cafe, the place which we celebrated our 6th Paktohversary there.

67
DoraMabel who bought some yummies from Taste on Tray.

68

Don’t ask me if it’s good because this girl here finished it all and didn’t save any for me, and …. I was the one paying for it lagi.

69
VS products available here too!

70
Icy’s stall, which I bought these two cute little chocolate balls (I forgot the name! Sorry Icy!) that’s a bit similar to Ferrero Rocher but instead of nut, it’s crunchy inside. Maltesers perhaps?

71
Hani, selling cloths and shoes which I can’t fit.

72
The talented Aziz entertaining the crowd.

73
And lastly, Sas who was all cheery and excited while selling her yummy goodies! Don’t you just love buying things from a happy owner?

That’s all the photos I took during the event. Not much, because when I turned around, all my girlfriends already went in the car to escape the heat and left me all alone. Sorry peeps, for not staying longer and chit chat. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed myself during the short stay and it was fun to meet all the creative cooks again.
